Congratulations to all of our entrants in the GPISD Environmental Art Contest.  Winners received their awards Saturday, May 15, 2010 at MAYFEST.  Several of the winners were from Powell Elementary---Way to go Palominoes!  All entries were encouraged by our art teacher, Mr. Kevin Pennebaker.

A big thank you to ALL of our parents for the INCREDIBLE staff lunches that have been provided this school year!  THEY HAVE BEEN SO APPRECIATED AND WELL LOVED BY ALL THE STAFF AT POWELL!!!!!

Powell Elementary received a grant from the GPISD Education Foundation to implement 4th/5th grade Literature Circles with the librarian while utilizing interactive technologies to promote comprehension and 21st century learning skills.

Powell Elementary students, staff and parents donated at total of $2000.00 to the American Red Cross to help Haiti!  Thank you all for your generosity and willingness to help!

Congratulations to our 5th Grade Teacher of the Year, Ms. Brown!

Ms. Brown has been teaching for 14 years at Powell Elementary.  She has 3 sons: two who attend Texas Tech University, and one at South Grand Prairie HS.  She spent 5 years teaching Kindergarten before moving to the 5th grade.
